Tapestry of Nations was Disney's parade to the Millennium. Oversize puppets
danced to a majestic score, drummers beat a rythmic beat, and it was all lead
by the imposing Sage of Time. After the 2000 celebration, the parade continued
with the millennium references removed.
For Disney's 100 years of Magic Celebration, they ruined the parade when it was
reworked into the Tapestry of Dreams. The parade was mercifully killed off soon
after than.
Epcot was never built for a parade anyway...
There's a video of Tapestry of Nations on my
Video Page.

I was at Disneyworld in December 2006, expressly for the purpose of
seeing the place during the Christmas season. I almost *always*
see Illuminations when I'm there, and with a new HDV camcorder
with a wide angle lens, I was hoping to get Illuminations all in
frame, in hi-def.
But at the end of the show, instead of the usual closing good-night,
they started their Christmas fireworks show. It was completely unexpected,
I hadn't read anywhere that they had extended the show. It was awesome.
Now, 'awesome' is a pretty overused word these days, but the Christmas
show really was. I think it was only the third time at Disneyworld,
where I really just stood there after an attraction was over like
a mouth-breathing brain-stem, muttering "Wow..." every once in a while.
I have two versions Illuminations on my
Video Page,
one from 2000, the other from 2008. The 2008 version
has the Christmas tag.
